GrailScout Privacy Policy

GrailScout (“GrailScout,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is a collectibles tracking app built first for diecast collectors. GrailScout helps users track their collection, manage wanted items, save hunting locations, view estimated market information, and organize collecting activity.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and what choices you have.

By using GrailScout, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information needed to provide, protect, support, and improve GrailScout.

Account Information

When you create or use a GrailScout account, we may collect:

email address
account ID
authentication/session information
basic account status information

GrailScout uses a third-party authentication provider to help manage secure sign-up, login, account sessions, and account security.

Collection and App Data

When you use GrailScout, you may create, save, or manage information such as:

items in your Vault
items in your Grails or wishlist
Hunting Grounds or saved collecting locations
item names, identifiers, categories, and condition information
target prices
notes
estimated values
market refresh history
saved images or image references, where supported
app settings and preferences

This information is used to provide GrailScout’s core app features and keep your data associated with your account.

Location-Related Information

GrailScout may allow you to save stores, places, or hunting locations as part of the Hunting Grounds feature.

This may include locations you manually enter or save and, if enabled in the app, device location information used to support location-based features.

We use location-related information only to provide, secure, support, and improve GrailScout features. We do not sell this information.

You should avoid saving sensitive personal information in Hunting Grounds names, notes, or location records.

Device, Usage, Analytics, Diagnostics, and Log Data

GrailScout may collect limited technical, analytics, diagnostics, crash reporting, and performance information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the app.

This may include:

device type
operating system
app version
app interactions and feature usage
crash logs
error reports
performance data
date and time of app activity
date and time of app requests
general network or request information, such as IP address, when needed for security, hosting, troubleshooting, or service operation

This information helps us fix bugs, improve performance, protect accounts, prevent abuse, maintain the service, and support beta testing.

Payment Information

GrailScout is currently in beta and may not include paid features yet.

If paid features, subscriptions, or in-app purchases are offered in the future, payments may be processed by Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Stripe, or another payment provider.

We do not store full payment card numbers unless handled by a payment provider under its own privacy and security practices.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to:

create and manage your account
provide Vault, Grails, Hunting Grounds, and related app features
save and display your collection information
estimate and refresh collectible values
improve item identification, search quality, and app reliability
provide app security and device/app-lock functionality
respond to support requests
troubleshoot bugs, crashes, and performance issues
prevent misuse, abuse, unauthorized access, or fraud
maintain and improve GrailScout
support beta testing and product feedback
comply with legal obligations

3. Market Data, Estimates, and Third-Party Sources

GrailScout may use third-party marketplace, listing, reference, API, or community-maintained data sources to help provide item information, market context, estimated values, and confidence signals.

Examples may include official APIs, public reference sources, marketplace listing data, user-entered information, or other approved data sources.

Values shown in GrailScout are estimates based on available information. They are not guaranteed appraisals, financial advice, investment advice, or promises of what an item will sell for.

GrailScout is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Mattel, Hot Wheels, eBay, Fandom, hobbyDB, Toy Car Value, or any other third party unless expressly stated.

4. Third-Party Services

GrailScout may use third-party service providers to help operate, secure, support, and improve the app.

These providers may process limited information on our behalf only as needed to provide their services. Third-party services may include:

authentication providers
hosting and database providers
app store platforms
crash reporting or diagnostics tools
analytics tools, if enabled
marketplace or API providers
payment or subscription providers, if paid features are added
email or support providers
infrastructure, security, and monitoring providers

These third-party services may have their own privacy policies and data practices.

We do not allow third-party service providers to use your personal information for their own advertising or marketing unless you separately agree to that with them.

5. Analytics and Crash Reporting

We may use analytics, diagnostics, crash reporting, and performance-monitoring tools to understand how GrailScout performs, identify errors, improve reliability, and support beta testing.

This may include technical information such as app version, device type, operating system, crash logs, error events, performance information, and general usage patterns.

We use this information to improve reliability, performance, security, and user experience.

6. App Lock, Biometrics, and Device Authentication

GrailScout may support app-lock features using your device’s built-in authentication, such as Face ID, Touch ID, Android biometrics, device passcode, or device unlock.

GrailScout does not collect, store, or receive your biometric identifiers.

Biometric and device-authentication checks are handled by your device operating system. GrailScout only receives a result indicating whether device authentication succeeded or failed.

7. Images and User Content

If GrailScout allows you to save or upload images, those images may be stored or processed to provide app functionality.

You are responsible for the images and content you add to GrailScout. Do not upload content you do not have the right to use.

We do not use user-uploaded images for facial recognition, biometric identification, or personal identification.

If future features use image analysis, AI-assisted identification, or similar technology, this Privacy Policy may be updated before those features are made available.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information only in the following situations:

with service providers who help operate GrailScout
with authentication, hosting, analytics, diagnostics, payment, or infrastructure providers as needed
with marketplace, API, or reference providers where needed to provide app functionality
if required by law, legal process, court order, or government request
to protect the rights, safety, security, or integrity of GrailScout, users, or others
in connection with a business transfer, merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets
with your consent or at your direction

We may share aggregated or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify you.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your information as long as needed to provide GrailScout, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and improve the app.

You may also use any account-deletion option provided in the app or on grailscout.app.

When you request account deletion, we will take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize your account information and user-created data, unless we are required or permitted to retain certain information for legal, security, fraud prevention, backup, or operational reasons.

Uninstalling the app may remove local data from your device, but it may not automatically delete account data stored on GrailScout’s systems. To request deletion of account data stored by GrailScout, please contact us from the email address associated with your account.

10. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

access the personal information we have about you
correct inaccurate information
request deletion of your account or data
object to or restrict certain processing
request a copy of your data
withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and device.

12. Children’s Privacy

GrailScout is not intended for children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

GrailScout may contain links to third-party websites, marketplaces, reference sources, or services.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, accuracy, or policies of third-party sites or services. You should review their privacy policies before using them.

14. International Users

GrailScout is operated from the United States.

If you use GrailScout from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate.

By using GrailScout, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries that may have different data protection laws than your location.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

If we make material changes, we may notify users through the app, by email, or by posting an updated version on grailscout.app.

The updated policy will be effective when posted unless otherwise stated.
